February 14: Liberators: Fighting on Two Fronts in World War II

The unknown story of African-American battalions in World War II, focusing on the actions of the 761st, which helped spearhead Patton's Third Army and liberated Nazi concentration camps. This powerful film vividly records the experiences of the soldiers, who were utterly unprepared for the atrocities they witnessed, as well as the astonishment of the camp inmates, some of whom had never seen a black person before. It bears witness to the courage of Holocaust survivors and the heroism of men forced to fight on two fronts - battling discrimination at home as they fought for their country overseas. This outstanding documentary is narrated by Denzel Washington and Louis Gossett, Jr.

February 21: Men of Bronze

The definitive story of African-American soldiers of the 369th Infantry Regiment from New York, who served with the French army in World War I. The film uses photographs, veterans’ interviews, and footage from the French and American national Archives to recount the saga of the "Harlem Hellfighters," and offers an inspiring tribute to these unsung heroes and an unforgettable look at World War I.

February 28: Glory

Starring Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Matthew Broderick, this 1989 movie chronicles the all-black 54th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Their final assault on Fort Wagner, S.C. demonstrated their bravery and turned a bitter defeat into a symbolic victory that brought recognition to black soldiers.
